The LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival began in 2004. The festival was founded by a group of Lake George residents, business owners and fans of the King of Rock and Roll®. Their intent was to create a festival that would honor the music and life of Elvis Presley® while at the same time building a festival that would bring economic benefit to the Lake George Region. The festival would bring the music of the King to the Queen of America’s Lakes.
The festival’s founders worked with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. to create a world class event respectful to everything Elvis® stood for. Since the festival’s inception, it has continued to grow, and is now the second-largest Elvis® Tribute Artist Competition in the world. The festival attracts competitors and spectators from across the globe.
In 2007, the LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival was one of a handful of Elvis® Tribute Artist competitions selected to be a qualifying round for the first annual Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest® to be held in Memphis, TN. Each year our festival continues its work with EPE, Inc. and the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest®, and we are proud that many of our winners have gone on to rank well among the top ten finalists.
And, the festival continues to grow. In 2004 the festival was a two-day competition. Now, the festival features a three-day competition with over fifty professional, non-professional and youth division competitors, a free opening ceremony held on the shore of Lake George, a free Sunday morning gospel concert and two Las Vegas-style Big Shows, one on Friday night and one on Saturday. The details of these shows, and many other events can be found on our Event Schedule.
For any of you who are Elvis® fans but have never visited Lake George, the splendor of our region’s greatest natural asset can best be described using the words of Thomas Jefferson, “Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw; formed by a contour of mountains into a basin… finely interspersed with islands, its water limpid as crystal, and the mountain sides covered with rich groves… down to the water-edge: here and there precipices of rock to checker the scene and save it from monotony.” (May 31, 1791)
I, and the over one hundred people that help make the LakeGeorge.com Elvis Festival happen, look forward to seeing you this and every year in Lake George.
